Ashley and I grew up together going on family camping trips since our Moms are best friends. Ashley was only one year older than me in school, but we have definitely grown closer since I started photographing her family. Now, instead of sandcastle campground contests and s’mores, we’re swapping mom stories and texting each other for advice. It’s crazy how times change!
Ashley + Brian have three little boys, six-year-old Padraig, three-year-old Seamus and five-day-old Cabhan. Padraig and Seamus have come to know me pretty well over the years (even attending birthday parties), which always make our sessions so easy and fun. When I first got to their house, Ashley had just finished bathing the baby. He was all wrapped up in a towel and I was so excited to give him some snuggles. Cabhan was just so perfect!
Next, I got a tour of Cabhan’s new boho nursery that was magazine worthy beautiful! Ashley had literally thought of every little detail. How awesome is it to be growing up in a room like this?! She also dressed him in the cutest cotton gown* that tied at the bottom. Ashley’s Etsy research sure did pay off and flowed perfectly with everyone else’s outfits!
With every newborn session, I always plan on having to take a few breaks for nursing and diaper changes. This session was no different. When you add in two older brothers, they welcome the chance for a time killing distraction. I popped open SnapChat and let the boys’ imaginations and silliness be played up with fun filters during one of Ashley’s nursing breaks. They were howling with laughter and having so much fun. It set them up perfectly to continue with our session!
In addition to Cabhan’s knotted gown, Ashley also had a range of swaddles that matched everyone’s outfits and his nursery colors. Can you say PHOTOGRAPHER’S DREAM?!?! It was like walking into a prop shop tailored just for me and our session! I was able to capture some amazing shots of Cabhan with both Ashley + Brian individually and with each of his brothers. The best part though was capturing his little features, especially his toes. I got to take advantage of my new macro lens and was able to get every single angle of those sweet little feet. They were too cute not to obsess over!
Ashley +Brian, I can’t wait to see how Cabhan grows over the years and the relationship he will have with his two brothers. With you two at his side, he will surely be an amazing person.
