baker park fishing themed milestone session

One of my favorite, littlest clients is turning one! I’ve been capturing little Cabhan’s whole family since his oldest brother was a baby and I’m honored that Ashley + Brian continue to trust me with capturing their beautiful family year after year.

For Cabhan’s first birthday milestone session, we headed to Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland. Ashley brought along some of the decor from his fishing themed birthday party including the cutest center piece and fishing bobber garland.

Over the last year so much has changed with Cabhan. He’s grown a ton, is learning new things everyday and is now standing on his own. But one thing hasn’t changed. He is still the happiest baby I have ever worked with. His constant smiles and giggles are infectious and in the three sessions I have done with him, he hasn’t cried once.

From Ashley: Cabhan is always happy. It’s rare that you will ever see him without a smile on his face. Watching his big brothers and dancing are two of his favorite things right now. Cabhan is the perfect little brother. Never seems to bother him that most weekends are spent at one of his brothers games or practices. He just goes with the flow.

At the end of the session we brought out what we thought would be the perfect treat!  But as they say, “it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to”. Cabhan was not a fan of his cake smash. Even though he wasn’t his typically smiling self, he still had us laughing the whole time. In fact, one of my favorite shots from his session came from the cake smash when he tasted the blue icing on his cake for the first time. I snapped my camera right at the moment he stuck out his little tounge with a dollop of frosting on it. This will be one for the baby book for sure!

While Cabhan’s session was mostly smiles and laughter, it was also filled with a bit of sentiment. When Ashley was a baby, a little wooden rocking chair that was given to her by her grandma and grandpa. She has used this same heirloom piece in older brother Seamus’ first birthday session and we were able to incorporate it once again for Cabhan. Honoring family memories and traditions like this one are part of the reason I love what I do so much.

Ashley + Brian, I still can’t get over how happy Cabhan is all the time. His big grin make me instantly smile everytime I see him. He has grown so much over the last year and I can’t wait to watch him grow into a little man sharing his infectious personality with the world in years to come.
