an in-home fairfield lifestyle newborn session

Newborns are one of my favorite session types to shoot because these sweet little loves only look this way for such a short period of time. I like to schedule newborn sessions when babies are 6 days old or younger. It’s crazy how much they change after that first week!

Shannon + Tyler welcomed me into their home for a personalized lifestyle session with their 6-day-old baby girl, Hadlie. As I walked up to their front door, I could see brand new big sister Emmalyn peering out the window waiting to greet me. She told me all about her sister and it was obvious how much she loved her already.  

With any of my sessions, no matter the type, I like to get shots of the kids with each of their parents. Every single night, Tyler reads books to Emmalyn (and now little sis) before bed. It’s their special time together. I loved being able to capture them enjoying their favorite activity while Shannon changed Hadlie.

We had fabulous daylight coming through the master bedroom and girl’s room that highlighted the family snuggles perfectly. Little Hadlie was determined to stay awake for our session and rocked it! All that modeling eventually wore her out. At the very end of our time together she fell asleep all nestled up and peacefully still. It made capturing her tiny features a breeze!

Not all babies like to be swaddled, but Hadlie was a big fan! So, we wrapped her up tight and laid her on a blanket that actually belonged to Shannon’s grandmother. As I was finishing up capturing Hadlie, Emmalyn came in a laid a little stuffed Winnie-the-Pooh right next to her to keep her company. Pooh was Emmalyn’s when she a baby. When all the infant toys were brought out in preparation for little Hadlie, she picked it out and said it would be Hadlie’s favorite. She even brought the Pooh to the hospital for her baby sissy the first time she met her! How sweet is that?!

I was honored to be invited into Shannon + Tyler’s home for their newborn session. It was so personable and I loved being able to highlight the details of the nursery as well. Fun fact about this session – my first daughter’s name is Claire Elise. Big sissy Emmalyn’s middle name is Claire and new baby Hadlie’s middle name is Elise. It was an obvious sign that we were meant to work together! To make this session even more special for me, we later discovered that our new church was the same church this sweet family attends!
