downtown frederick and ice cream shop family session

Having family photos taken every year allows you to see how your family grows and changes over time. Even though you see your spouse and children every day, you don’t realize how each grows taller, smiles bigger or becomes more outgoing until you look back at the previous year.

I have been photographing Ashley + Brian’s family since their oldest son Padraig, now seven, was just a baby. Watching their family grow over the years, most recently with the birth of their six month old son Cabhan, has been a joy.

For this year’s session we met in Frederick, Maryland, for a day of family fun. Ashley does an amazing job every year of choosing her family’s outfits. Each outfit coordinates beautifully together without being “matchy matchy”. She even texted me pictures of their looks a few days prior which made me even more excited to spend the day with this sweet family.

We started the session playing on the streets of Frederick. Here I was able to capture their fun family dynamics and each of their individual personalities. Padrig and Seamus were the best little helpers. They took turns pulling my roller bag of equipment even though I never asked. The bag was almost as big as Seamus, but he was determined. It was adorable.

We finished the session indulging in ice cream at Frederick Fudge and Ice Cream. They have a beautiful outside area perfect for enjoying a treat with the whole family. It was the perfect place to finish the day and reward the boys for being so amazing that evening.

Ashley + Brian, as always, I had an amazing time shooting your family. I can’t believe how much Cabhan has grown in the last six months. It’s awesome to get to watch Paddy and Seamus turn into smart, caring and helpful boys. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for your beautiful family.
