sewell’s christmas tree farm holiday mini session

The holiday season is the perfect time of year to take updated family photos. In one session, you’re able to get the perfect shot for your Christmas card, photos for gifting to grandparents and preserve this stage of your lives.

I met the Mathews family at Sewell’s Farm. This has truly become one of my favorite places for sessions because it’s just so beautiful. Plus, they grow seasonal crops all year meaning there is always a new location to shoot.

It was a bitter cold day, but Crystal, Patrick and their two children Paityn + Ryland couldn’t have been better sports about it. (Good thing we were only doing a mini session!) Crystal + Patrick were married two years ago and in that time have truly learned the meaning of family, something that takes priority this time of year.

From Crystal: We, as a family, learned family isn’t defined by blood or last names. It’s defined by commitment and love. It means showing up when they need it the most. It means having each other’s back. It means choosing to love each other even on the days that you struggle to like each other. It means never giving up! I love our story; sure it’s messy, but it’s the story that got us here!  

Playing amongst the Christmas trees, I got to experience their love for each other first hand. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal, Crystal, Patrick, Paityn + Ryland were happy to be together, smiling and making the best of every moment they have together.

Crystal + Patrick, thank you for braving the bitter temperatures with me. Even though it was freezing, you all had the best spirits. I am so glad we were able to capture such fun and loving shots of all of you. Your words about family ring so true and make me extra grateful for my own this holiday season.
