When scheduling any outdoor session, we’re always crossing our fingers in hopes of perfect weather. For Jen + Chris’s engagement session, we were also crossing our fingers for one other thing – the changing leaves. Timing the changing colors can be tricky but we looked at the calendar and tried to pick what would be the best weekend. And man, the foliage did NOT disappoint! The fall colored leaves created the perfect background for their session.
Before the session Jen joked with me that I would need to work some magic because … have you ever seen Chandler Bing?
She could not have been further off in her description of herself. First! She showed up totally prepared complete with a blowout making her gorgeous locks smooth and totally touchable for Chris to show off his model skills with his perfected hair sweep and dip kiss. Secondly – I don’t think we stopped laughing and genuinely having fun the entire session! It is so rewarding photographing couples who effortlessly fall together. It’s easy to see Jen + Chris belong together and it is going to be so great hanging out with them capturing their wedding.
We began our session lakeside at Carroll Commons (previously known as Carroll Valley Park) with Jen + Chris’s two dogs, Remi and Scout since they weren’t going to be with us for the entire session. Turning their engagement session into a day date incorporating some of their favorite activities together made the night that much more special.
One thing they love to do in their spare time is fish. They brought along their fishing rods and a cozy blanket and I was able to capture them having fun together in the lake. We even captured some beautiful shots of Jen’s ring on the fishing lure.
Then it was off to The Lodges at Gettysburg where the soon to be Wardens will be married next March. Ending the session atop The Lodges with a neverending countryside view was the icing on the cake. It will look so much different on their big day and images at this iconic location will be amazing to have in two different seasons.
Jen + Chris, I had so much fun hanging out with you, Remi + Scout. Getting to experience the beautiful fall weather, changing leaves and fishing the lake with you was a blast. Thank you for trusting me COMPLETELY and not even batting an eye when I asked you to stand in a ditch for “the shot!” Those are some of my faves and I can’t wait to see what magic we can make happen at your wedding! I’m so excited ; March will be here before we know it!
