Emily + Josh are married! I shared a sneak peek of their wedding recently and am so happy to finally share their full wedding blog with you. By the end of Emily + Josh’s wedding, my mouth hurt from smiling so much. These two are surrounded by some fabulous people! Their day just screamed Emily + Josh, even at unplanned moments and it could not have been more perfect.
Our day began at Emily + Josh’s home where Emily and her wedding party were getting ready with hair and make-up. After capturing some candid moments of Emily and her favorite people, they all made their way via limo to The Links at Gettysburg where the rest of the wedding day festivities were taking place.
Once arriving at The Links, I went to check in with Josh, his wedding party and his best pup Remi. I absolutely love that the Keeney’s included the most important people in their lives in their wedding parties breaking tradition of a girl’s side and guy’s side. For Josh, this also meant his dog Remi had to be in the wedding as well. I have to say, Remi did give the guys a run for their money looking his best in a full suit!
Every couple looks to infuse themselves into their wedding, but Emily + Josh did an exceptional job of making sure every detail was perfect for them. It even seemed that in the most serious moments, something unplanned would happen causing us all to burst into laughter – completely fitting for this fun-loving and joyful couple!
Alongside a flower girl and ring bearers, Emily + Josh kept the theme of having their most important people in the wedding. For them, that meant having one of their adult friends ribbon dance down the aisle in a kilt. It was by far one of the most unique details I’ve seen and such a fun precursor to Emily’s iconic walk down the aisle.
During their ceremony, Emily + Josh found a way to honor and love those who have passed. Empty chairs in each of their honors were adorned with a single flower. In place of a traditional unity ceremony, each flower from a passed family member’s empty chair was added to her bouquet. This way they could each be with her throughout the night. It was such a thoughtful moment during their ceremony.
The whole day it seemed as though the second things started to get serious, something would not go as planned and the entire group would bust out in laughter. It’s not uncommon during a ceremony for the best man to joke as though he’s forgotten the rings. But, this time he did and it was the ribbon dancer to the rescue! Prancing down the aisle with rings in hand, he brought them to the end of the aisle and got down onto one knee at the altar like he was proposing to Josh with the rings. With all their family and friends crying from laughter, I could not have imagined a better outcome from the best man forgetting the rings!
After safely placing the rings on each other’s fingers, it was time to announce the new Mr. and Mrs. Keeney. But, not before their first kiss as husband and wife. Emily had an amazing request that it be captured from the pastor’s perspective with all of their guests behind them. This candid moment came out perfectly and is one of my favorites from their wedding as you can see the joy and happiness on each of their guests’ faces. I know it will be one of their favorite photos from the whole day.
Emily + Josh, thank you so much for having me be a part of your day. It was so full of natural joy and I could not be happier for the two of you. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you both. But whatever it is, keep on celebrating!
