Have you ever had one of those opportunities present themselves that you couldn’t pass up no matter what? That’s what this styled shoot was for me. I met Annette with I Do Weddings with Love at the feathered floral styled shoot in Somerset, Virginia, I participated in last year. We became fast friends and when she told me about this session, I couldn’t say no, even though it was taking place about three hours away.

I have never shot an Indian wedding before but have always loved their bright colors and jeweled accents. The way they draw the celebration out over many days and put such thought into every detail makes them incredibly special and beautiful.

Annette did an amazing job planning this styled shoot and consulted with others to make sure every detail was as authentic as possible. This included, among other things, a horse that the groom rode in on. This Indian wedding tradition is known as a Baarat and it was an amazing tradition to capture.

Each vendor that participated in this shoot put incredible thought into their work. Kadi of Kadi Bakes created a delicious looking dessert display including one of the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen. With fresh figs, apricots and other fruits surrounding it, the whole setup shined with opulence.

One of the most unique elements was a belly dancer. Adorned in traditional attire, she danced through our reception set-up and even breathed fire. It was amazing to see and the most original detail I’ve ever experienced.
