minnie mouse themed first birthday celebration

Jess + Chase’s littlest angel Charlotte is one. I have photographed this sweet family on a number of occasions and Charlotte, who they call Charlie, is the happiest baby. I was honored they choose me to celebrate this milestone with them and capture their baby girl as she turned one.

We had Charlie’s milestone session at her family’s home the morning of her birthday party. Minnie Mouse is her favorite character right now and Jess planned the cutest Minnie themed party with the most adorable outfit – including little mouse ears! – for Charlie.

With the families light blue dining room walls behind her, Charlie’s big blue eyes just popped in every photo. While she isn’t walking just yet, she loves standing and holding on to mom’s finger. I know capturing precious moments like this are the ones my clients will cherish most. As a momma of two little girls that are growing up way too fast, it makes my heart happy to look back on everyday things that seemed so simple in the moment but soon become photos I hold most dear..

From Jess: Charlotte is definitely our wild child!  She will climb on anything and try to jump off, doesn’t matter if it’s a rocking chair, her high chair, or the couch.  I love that she’s a dare devil, but it also terrifies us to even turn our backs on her. She is a daddy’s girl and has figured out the times he gets home and sits by the window waiting for him.  She is the sweetest, happiest baby you could ever meet. She loves her Minnie Mouse and her Lambie. I’m so glad even after we decided to not have any more kids, we ended up having Charlotte. Our family wouldn’t have ever been completed without this beautiful baby girl.

Since Charlie’s party wasn’t for another couple of hours, we opted to not let her destroy her cake before the guests arrived.. However, we did bring out a little cupcake and let her get some practice in before the big moment. Her cupcake smash was perfect in every way. She started out slow trying to get a feel for what it was all about. Once she realized how delicious this cupcake was, she devoured it ending up with icing covering her fingers, toes and face. It was absolutely adorable and she must have really dug into her cake during her party.

Jess + Chase, thank you for once again allowing me to capture your beautiful family. Charlie is just the sweetest and I still can’t get over how perfect her cupcake smash was. She is such a joy with her big blue eyes and happy personality. I can’t wait to watch her grow over the years.
