When I took a leap of faith and started the Gettysburg chapter of The Rising Tide Society’s TuesdaysTogether, I had no idea what a blessing it would be to my life and business. Not only has it been an amazing resource for creative entrepreneurs in our area, but I have met some of the most amazing people that I am proud to call my friends.
Selena of Selena’s Best Bakes is one of those friends. I have worked with her on a number of shoots like Jean + Jim’s Legacy Collection and Holiday Mini Sessions. This past weekend she had the grand reopening of her bakery and I jumped at the opportunities to capture the excitement. Selena’s bakery was previously in a quaint stone building on her and her husband’s property. However, as her business has grown, so has her need for a bigger and more convenient space.
In the fall of last year, Selena and her husband began renovating the basement of their gorgeous a-frame home to turn the entire leve into her new bakery. About twice the size of her old space, the new bakery looks out over the beautiful Pennsylvania hills. It’s going to be a breathtaking view when the weather warms up and customers can enjoy sweet cinnamon rolls out on the lawn!
If you want to get your taste buds a dancin’, mark your calendars now! Selena is only open to the public the last Saturday of every month. The rest of the time, she takes private orders from clients throughout the week and prepares them for Saturday pickups. Customers have grown so accustomed to the way she operates and not wanting to miss out on their favorites, that they always place their orders early.
I arrived early that morning to capture the ribbon cutting and official opening of the doors! Even though it was freezing cold outside, Selena and her husband were so excited to finally be opening the doors of their new expanded space. While she continued to take orders throughout the remodel, everyone was so excited for her grand reopening they placed tons of preorders and Selena stocked the case for the public with all of her most popular items.
She had display case full of the most scrumptious treats, of course including her famous cinnamon buns. Sticky buns, Snickers and Andes mint chocolate cupcakes, homemade breads, fluffernutter whoopie pies and even football shaped treats for the big game on Sunday. Her grand reopening was so popular that she only had three loaves of bread left an hour and a half after opening the doors! I even snagged a few treats like chocolate chip cookies for my husband and sticky buns (my favorite!) for me to take home. My husband’s eyes got so big with excitement when I told him all the cookies were for him!
Selena, I am so happy for you and your grand reopening. Thank you for having me to capture it and all your goodies. My husband and I could not stop eating your delicious treats all day! I can’t wait to see where this new expanded space takes you!
