an at-home littlestown lifestyle newborn session

Olivia Grace is home from the hospital! Kelly + Richie chose to do our complete Welcome to the World collection when they found out they were pregnant with Olivia. It includes the client’s choice of a maternity, birth or fresh 48 session and an in-home/on location newborn session. Little Olivia was blessed with a birth session, which you can see here, to accompany her newborn session.

Newborns are my absolute favorite to shoot and I always have such a torn heart refraining from cuddling them all the time. I just love everything about them from their adorable little features to the way the smell. It’s the best!

At five days old, Olivia is hard to resist with her full head of dark hair and puppy dog rolls (the extra skin on newborn’s back). We shot her newborn session in her nursery which Kelly + Richie took great care in setting up in preparation for her arrival. It was full of cozy blankets and little details perfect for their baby girl.

The sun coming through her window created perfect lighting for capturing her with Mom, Dad and big brother Riley. Since she was awake at the beginning of our session, I was able to capture some shots with her eyes open. Olivia was very calm and allowed me to capture her little features right there. She even let me recreate a photo I took of Riley when he was a newborn at Kelly’s request.

At the time Riley was born, I worked in a studio. Kelly brought him in for newborn pictures along with a giant teddy bear he was given. We laid Riley in the bear’s lap for a few adorable shots. Over the years, Kelly held on to the bear and we brought it out for Olivia’s session. I laid her in the bear’s lap the same way I did with Riley. With both images right next to each other, the only way you can tell Riley and Olivia apart is by the color of their swaddle blanket!

 

I also was able to capture some shots of Olivia in her coming home outfit which was just the CUTEST! Her little “Hello World” onesie was paired with a pair of pink leggings with gold glitter hearts on the knees. It was enough to make my heart melt!

Once she fell asleep, I captured some of the most heartwarming pictures of Riley and Olivia together. Riley, who is not a big fan of having his picture taken, was more than willing to sit there, smile, talk to and cuddle as long as he was next to his little sister. He is the best big brother and just loves Olivia so much. They are so cute in their matching “big brother” and “little sister” baseball style shirts.

One of my favorite shots from the session is where the whole family is kissing each other on the cheeks. Something about this shot must have really resonated with Riley as well. Over a year later, he still talks about this picture and asks to recreate it. His little heart is just the sweetest!

Kelly + Richie, thank you for allowing me to capture my beautiful newborn niece. Her dark hair, little rolls and sweetness still melt my heart to this day. From the day she was born, time has flown by. I cherish every moment getting to watch her grow.
