It’s sessions like this where I wonder where the time has gone. It was just six short months ago I received the call that Erica + Seth were on their way to the hospital to have their first little babe. A quick two hours after that first call, Erica started to push and we welcomed the seventh “Sanders” great-grandchild, sweet little Noah Allen into the world. Over the last six months, he’s brought so much joy to our family!

Noah is quite perceptive. His little eyes kept following me around the room as I captured every little thing about him. Before every milestone session I send my clients a questionnaire to learn more about a child’s interests, most advanced milestone he or she has achieved to date and any special details they want me to capture. With Noah, Erica noted that he has started to eat his fingers as he’s teething. Since Erica’s parents, my aunt and uncle, live about two hours away, they haven’t seen him do this yet. Already having this in my head as a capture moment and Noah made sure it happened even before the session truly started!   

Erica wanted to make sure he was completely ready and wouldn’t get hungry during our time together. This shot was captured right after he had finished nursing, sitting in the rocker with “him’s momma”, sticking his little fingers in his mouth rooting around two very new teeth.  As he did this, his Grandma Sweetie, who he is looking right over mom’s shoulder to see, exclaimed how excited she was to see him do that for the first time. No, it isn’t a typical life-changing milestone that you generally think of in little ones like their first step, but to her, it was yet another amazing part of Noah, the little blessing that he is to her and Pappy G.

From Erica: Our favorite moments about this milestone have definitely included watching Noah explore each and every day. He is working on mastering trying all sorts of vegetables and we love seeing the faces he makes as he swooshes the new taste around his mouth. He has discovered his toes and that his chunky little hands can grab all sorts of objects.

As little ones grow, so much about them changes from day to day. From their first little smile to keeping their eyes open longer too, eventually, walking and talking. I love that Erica and Seth opted to do a six-month milestone session with Noah as it allows us to capture the hurdles he’s squashed to date and share those moments with friends and family that don’t live nearby.

A major milestone at six months, is the ability for a little one to be able to sit up all on their own. Since I shot Noah’s milestone a few weeks prior to his sixth month birthday due to our own little guy arriving soon, we weren’t sure if he would do this during our session or not. Much to all of our surprise, he sat for the very first time on his while I was there. It’s amazing we were able to capture it for the very first time on camera!

From Erica: We asked Jamie to capture his next big milestone just like she has his entire life. And, of course, she moved through the session with so much patience and ease. Our favorite part was watching Noah sitting up all by himself. That little trick happened for the very first time during the session and of course, we were grinning from ear to ear. Time, please slow down!

Noah boy, mommy and daddy are BEYOND proud of you and we know that will just continue as each day passes. God definitely blessed us with the perfect addition to our family. People always say that you can’t remember what life was like before having a baby after they have arrived and MAN, is that true! What was life before you? It was amazing, I remember, but you son, you have made this life so stinking beautiful. We cannot wait to watch you grow and blossom into whatever it is you want to be. Mommy and daddy will be here every step of the way, don’t ever forget that. We love you Noah Allen.

Erica + Seth, Noah has been such a blessing to our family and it’s been truly amazing to watch him grow over these last six months. Where does the time go? It’s hard to believe my little guy will be here any day and that these two will get to grow up together. I know they’re going to be thick as thieves. Before you know it, we’ll be capturing this sweet boy as a one-year-old surrounded by all his cousins!
