Many brides spend years dreaming of their wedding day. When they finally get engaged, they’re off to the races with planning. While many couples are stressed about the planning process, Lindsey + Ryan had it under control.

From Ryan: We got engaged after planning a trip to Tennessee right after Christmas 2018. I had the ring already purchased and knew that I was gonna propose while we were on vacation. I kept the ring in my backpack that I took with us everywhere we went because I didn’t know when the right time was going to be. Lindsey kept getting frustrated with me asking me why I had to take the book bag with me everywhere that we went and I just told her that my laptop was in it and I didn’t want it to get stolen. I decided I wanted to propose outside with the mountains but it was so difficult to get Lindsey to want to be outside on that day. I finally got her outside and proposed on the last day we were in Tennessee overlooking the mountains. Lindsey said she has never seen me that nervous before and I didn’t blink the entire time I was trying to propose.

Throughout their engagement, they were always on top of planning, having most details in place for their Spring 2020 wedding by the end of the previous summer. Lindsey + Ryan were to be surrounded by 100 of their friends and family as they exchanged vows at Middleton United Methodist Church. 

Five weeks before their wedding, Lindsey + Ryan found themselves in the same boat as thousands of other couples. In the wake of Covid-19, they were forced to postpone or cancel their plans. To Lindsey + Ryan, the most important thing was to be married. They started scrambling to make new plans and get married in a way that was as safe as possible. 

Luckily for Lindsey + Ryan, they found an intimate wedding package through Linganore Winery in Maryland and on July 17, 2020, they were married surrounded by their immediate families. It certainly wasn’t the wedding they spent a year and a half planning, but it ended up being absolutely perfect and neither could stop smiling.

I had so much fun with these two and it was crazy that their wedding day was the first day we actually got to meet in real life – thanks Covid-19. While the heat and masks weren’t ideal, the day for their wedding was beautiful. The rolling hills of the vineyard served as the perfect setting for some intimate pictures of Lindsey + Ryan. The wonderful team at Linganore even gave us special access to the wine cellar to take some additional photos.

On a traditional wedding day, time alone with the bride and groom can be limited because of everything else going on and keeping on track with a timeline. But with the need to adjust wedding plans came a little diamond in the rough! I was able to spend more one-on-one time with Lindsey + Ryan and capture even more special moments for them. Bride + Groom portraits get printed most often to hang around couples homes and give as gifts and I love that we were able to get such a wonderful variety, especially after everything they went through to get here. 

Lindsey + Ryan, thank you for letting me be a part of your special day. I know it was not the day you planned but I am in awe of your joyous attitudes in this situation. Your love for each other is palpable and I am honored that you trusted me to capture it. You two have a wonderful life full of love and happiness ahead of you and I can’t wait to see where it takes you next.
