Today I rode a yellow school bus, ate a packed lunch out of a paper bag, and spent my morning sitting on a museum floor watching my daughter light up with her friends. I never once checked my inbox. And my business still ran.

WHAT MY BUSINESS WAS DOING WHILE I WAS SITTING IN THE SENATE CHAMBER — A REAL FLODESK REVIEW FOR CREATIVES

There was a time in my business when a day like this would have sent my nervous system into a spiral. I would have gone on the field trip, yes. But I would have been refreshing my email from the bathroom. Checking registrations in the hallway. Half present everywhere.

Today felt different.

While I was helping kids find answers in our scavenger hunt and watching fourth graders’ eyes light up seeing how much gold is in the ceiling of the Capitol, Flodesk was quietly doing the work I had already built. Photographers were being nurtured toward regaining their time. Conquer Live Scholarship winners were being celebrated. New subscribers were being welcomed. Payments were being processed. Every step was happening without me touching a thing.

I pulled my phone out of my bag. Not to check my inbox. Not to see if anything had broken. Just to take a photo of my daughter laughing with her friends.

That’s when it hit me.

THIS is what it feels like when your systems actually support your life, and it hadn’t always been this way.

WHY EMAIL MARKETING USED TO FEEL LIKE THE HARD PART

Email marketing used to feel like a chore I avoided. I knew it mattered. I knew it converted. But most platforms made me feel like I needed a tech background and a design team just to send a decent-looking email. The inbox never felt like it matched the rest of my brand. My website felt intentional. My social presence felt aligned. My emails always felt like the awkward cousin.

That disconnect bothered me.

Flodesk changed that.

I didn’t move to Flodesk because it was trendy. I was tired of my tools making things harder than they needed to be and wanted emails that actually looked like my brand. I wanted workflows that didn’t require a whiteboard and a headache, and I wanted something simple without sacrificing quality.

Flodesk is design-first in the best way. Everything already looks good before you touch it. The templates are clean. The layout feels premium. The drag-and-drop builder makes sense. I don’t have to fight the platform to make my emails feel like me.

WHAT WAS ACTUALLY POWERING THE DAY

What ran my business inside Flodesk was not complicated. It was just intentional. Audience segments quietly sorting people into the right places based on what they care about. Automated workflows delivering emails, welcome sequences, and event nurturing on the exact schedule I built. Beautiful drag-and-drop emails carrying my words without distracting from them. And Flodesk Checkout processing new registrations without sending people through three different systems.

One platform. One flow. No duct tape. No chaos.

The thing most people miss about automation is that it doesn’t remove the heart. It protects it. I wrote those emails on a CEO day when I was fully focused and all in for the people on the other side of the computer. I built workflows when I had space to think through the best way to serve them and answer questions before they could ask. Flodesk simply honored that work when I stepped away.

WHY DESIGN IN THE INBOX ACTUALLY MATTERS

Design matters more than most people admit. The inbox is part of your brand experience. How your email looks shapes how people trust you, remember you, and decide to buy from you. Flodesk understands that at a foundational level and built by people who actually understand small business life.

What has surprised me most wasn’t higher engagement or cleaner workflows, even though those happened, too. It gave me margin! Space in my calendar, my brain, and in business. Margin for motherhood – my way.

That’s a Topanga-level kind of growth, and you KNOW that makes my heart sing!

MY HONEST FLODESK REVIEW FOR CREATIVES

If we were face-to-face right now, I’d throw my voice like Eric’s and swap Feeny for Flodesk!

Imagine my group of softball girls screams when they all found out they were in the same group today, and if I could submit that as my Google Review for Flodesk, I would.

But here’s what that translates to…If you’re a small business owner who cares about how your brand feels, not just how it functions. And want beautiful delivery without tech chaos. This email marketing system is one that will set you up to scale without becoming complicated.

My honest Flodesk review as both a business owner and a mom is simple. It allows me to show up with intention without being tied to my screen. Write once and trust the delivery, allows me to build a business that doesn’t compete with my life.

When I’m not photographing, I’m spending my work days coaching other creatives and always on the hunt for how I can get them more time back. Flodesk feels like a secret tool that I want to shout from the rooftops because it has given me so much back time and time again, and I get so excited just thinking about showing others how to deploy it.

I’m thrilled and honored to now call myself an official Flodesk Partner.

Having a built-out system working for me in the background feels like a full-circle Boy Meets World moment, like the plot twist of Shawn giving the graduation speech. The lesson finally lands. The one where you realize you don’t have to choose between building something meaningful and being fully present in your life. You get to grow into both.
