outdoor farmhouse family session

Over the years, I’ve captured many milestone moments for Luke + Lydia and their family. I had the honor of featuring Luke + Lydia, their two daughters, Evelyn + Amelia, and Lydia’s immediate family in our first Legacy Session. Lydia’s mom Doreen was in the midst of her cancer battle at the time and they wanted an opportunity to capture some special moments with her both on camera and in video to long preserve her memory.

Last year, Luke + Lydia completed construction on their gorgeous forever farmhouse that was featured in last year’s family session. To honor the milestone, we captured their family photos in the backyard overlooking their new home and gorgeous property. This year, we focused on capturing family memories highlighting the front of their home. Just as this family has changed over the course of a year, so has their house and it’s important to remember those changes as well.

From Lydia: When you took our photos last year, we were in the excitement of moving into our house as it was brand new. Now, almost one year later, our house now feels like home. Our forever home. This year we construct of the girls swingset and added some ducks to the farm. It’s been a really fun year! We are really excited to have you take pictures here each year not only to watch our family grow, but to see how our home becomes more and more established.

I love the outfits Lydia chooses for her family every year. She does a great job of balancing colors and patterns to ensure that everyone coordinates but isn’t matching. Their coral, pink and blue color scheme for this year popped perfectly against their black and white farmhouse. Evelyn + Amelia’s dresses featured the perfect amount of pattern that wasn’t too busy but still added great visual interest to the family’s coordinated look.

Luke + Lydia, I always love getting to photograph such sweet memories for some of our best friends. Life can bring so many changes over the course of a year, but one thing will always remain constant – your love for each other and your family. I’m excited to see what the next year has in store for you and the girls and I can’t wait to capture the next milestone.
