At the end of last year, I ran a special for family sessions. Even though Emily + Brooks had only been married a couple of months, they knew they wanted to make family photos an annual tradition so they were quick to reach out. In one year’s time we’ve captured Emily + Brooks’ engagement, wedding day and now their first family photos and started preserving their legacy for the next generation.
Emily + Brooks love to garden and knew they wanted a location that would be in full bloom at the time of their session. After having captured Karson + Daniel’s wedding at Thorpewood last year, I knew it would be perfect for Emily + Brooks. During the spring months, their arboretum features gorgeous and unique flowers that smell so sweet.
Just like we did at their engagement session, Emily + Brooks wanted to be sure we included the furriest members of their family as well, pups Lila + Skye. It’s obvious how much they love their dogs and having them there made the session feel complete.
From Emily: This season for us is our first official family pictures. We are going to have a tradition of family pictures each year and see our family grow. It is also 9 months after we got married and we wanted something to remind us of our family. We always include our puppies as they are an important part of our lives. We are so grateful for your company and ability to capture our special moments in life!
We could not have asked for better weather the day of their session. The day before was unbelievably warm but it cooled down just enough to give us the perfect spring day. Without planning it, Emily wore the perfect shirt for our session. The varying shades of purple in her top popped with the purple Allium flowers in the background.
Emily + Brooks, I’m so happy you’re going to make annual family photos a tradition. Capturing how your family changes over the years will be something you cherish forever. I can’t believe it’s been nine months since your wedding day. I love that you two are as happy to be together as you were then and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and the girls.
