the inn at ragged edge outdoor engagement session

Brooks pulled off the ultimate surprise for his proposal to Emily. One day while Emily was at work, he hid behind her car in the parking lot at her job waiting for her night to be over. One of Emily’s coworkers wandered outside to leave and noticed Brooks hanging out. She called Emily and told her to come to the parking lot for a minute.

As she walked to her car, she noticed Brooks standing there with flowers in his hand and his brother-in-law recording. As Emily says, she’s incredibly gullible and thought she was just getting surprise flowers. At that moment, Brooks got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

Thinking an engagement wasn’t coming until after Christmas, Emily was shocked to find Brooks behind her car and having whole thing recorded! Isn’t a surprise proposal the best?!

One of my favorite parts about being involved in a couple’s wedding day is getting to capture their love for each other first hand. I love when they invite me into their lives and share the moments that mean the most, like their engagement story, with me.

With each of my wedding collections, I include an engagement session. It’s a great opportunity to get to work with you and get to know you both better before the wedding. It also allows you to get comfortable so you’re relaxed and natural in front of the camera on the big day.

Emily + Brooks are one of my September wedding clients for this year and we met up this weeke for their engagement session at The Inn at Ragged Edge. Since this is also where they will be married, it was an awesome opportunity to be able to explore the setting together before the big day.

Even though it was a little chilly, we opted to shoot the whole session outside because the natural light was too beautiful to miss and their sweet little puppies, Lila and Skye, were joining us for part of the session. Emily + Brooks are absolutely adorable with their dogs and treat them just like they are their children. So cute!

Funny Story: They asked Brooks’ young niece to name one of their dogs. She thought it looked just like Skye from Paw Patrol so that’s how Skye got her name.

Emily + Brooks, I had so much fun shooting your engagement session. Lila + Skye are absolutely adorable and I love that we were able to incorporate them into your photos. I can’t wait for your wedding and know it will be absolutely perfect for the both of you.
