If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, then you might remember our recent engagement session giveaway. Well, Andrea + Jason were one of the winning couples! I had the pleasure of capturing this soon-to-be husband and wife at Devil’s Den in Gettysburg. They drove down from Pittsburgh for the weekend and it ended up being a brisk 19 degrees. While the temperature wasn’t ideal, they could not have been a better couple to work with.
Ang is one of the sweetest girls I have met in a long time. She looked awesome and even when I captured more serious looks, she simply looked like a model! Before I even had an opportunity to show them a few sneak peeks on my camera, she mentioned how amazing she knew they would be since she had been following my work.
There was one tiny curveball thrown our way. Shortly before our session, Jason ended up in a leg cast that covered the lower half of his leg, preventing him from wearing a shoe. A little creative cropping and using our environment to discreetly hide that Jason in fact only had one shoe on did the trick!
Truthfully, I think his cast ended up working in our favor because it forced me to shoot more intimate shots of the two of them, which really highlighted their relationship. Jason was so sweet to Ang the whole time and their love for each other could not be clearer. They have so much fun together and I loved getting to witness that as the sun was going down.
Despite the cold, we had a blast the whole session and it was such a pleasure to be able to work with them. Instead of posing couples, I like to capture them through a series of movements and activities, which brings out genuine emotions and makes it more fun for my clients. At the end of the session, they both hugged me and shared how grateful they were. In fact, I ran home and told my husband about this because I was just so happy! Guys usually thank me with words of “it wasn’t as bad as I thought!” or “I actually had a good time”. But, when Jason gave me a big hug and expressed his gratitude, I was on cloud nine!
Ang + Jason, it was such an honor to work with you guys. I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness in your new life as husband and wife!
