It’s always an honor to get to capture another photographer’s family. Knowing the talent they possess and that they value my talent just as highly speaks volumes. I’m so happy to have photographed them and already have another annual session in the books for 2019.

For this year’s session, Valerie suggested Mercersburg Academy as our photo location. While I had not previously had a session there, she mentioned how amazing the light was this time of year and that the grounds were always beautifully landscaped. I’m so glad I followed her lead with this location because it was the perfect setting. We even discovered the perfect spot to get some updated business headshots for Valerie at the end of our session.

From Valerie: We are a close knit group. Since Todd and I run our architecture and interior design firm from home we’ve made being “present” in our children’s life a big priority. It gives us the flexibility to participate in their in-school events through volunteering and after school activities as well. (Todd was their soccer coach for years.) Ryleigh just gave soccer up this year to begin dance (which she loves, in addition to gymnastics). Graeme is our gamer. He excels at anything technological related and teaches the rest of us (with Todd ‘s guidance). They even recently coerced me into learning Fortnite so we can all play together in a squad. Who knew video games could be so fun!

Every year, Valerie is always sure to coordinate the family’s outfits. Her artistic eye helps her mix colors and patterns in a way that everyone looks like they fit together but no one matches. My favorite outfit this year was Ryleigh’s. Valerie found the perfect sweater online and had it shipped in two days to be here in time. The little ruffle across the bottom was just perfect I even asked Ryleigh if she thought they came in my size!

Valerie + Todd, thank you for allowing me to capture your family year after year. It’s always amazing to see you all and catch up on how life has changed in the last year. Valerie, thank you for introducing me to Mercersburg Academy. You were right – the lighting is perfect and I’m excited to have discovered this little gem!
