It’s been a year since we last saw Jen + Jeff and their two adorable littles Wyatt + Emma and so much has changed for this sweet family. One of the biggest changes for the family this year was moving into their forever home. It was a big decision for them to move so to remember the occasion I joined them at their new home for this year’s session where we could have their home in the background.
Last year we were celebrating Emma’s first birthday and even included a cupcake smash. She’s gotten so big this past year and is now running around chasing her big brother everywhere he goes. Like Emma, Wyatt has grown a ton. All he wanted to do during our session was show me how fast he could run and I was happy to let him.
Over the years, I’ve learned that kids run the show when it comes to family sessions. You can’t get wonderful photos of your family if you’re forcing them to be in a place they don’t want to be or do something they don’t want to do. Structuring the session around what the littlest members of your family finds fun allows us to get capture authentic, playful and happy moments. Plus, once they’ve had some fun, they’re more likely to smile and plant their bodies into the perfect light when asked.
With Wyatt running around joyfully and Emma chasing after in admiration of her big brother, I captured some of my favorite moments from their session. There’s nothing quite like the bond between siblings and I love that they’ll have this playful moments to look back on as they get older.
Jen + Jeff, thank you for letting me capture your sweet family once again. It’s been such a big year for you and I’m so happy we were able to incorporate your home into this year’s session. Wyatt + Emma are growing up so fast. I loved watching them play together and can’t wait to see how they grow even closer in years to come.
