carroll valley park family and birthday session

Jen + Jeff are long time clients of Expressions. They have been coming to me for years to capture their son Wyatt for his birthday. When their daughter Emma was born, our sessions turned into a celebration of both children and the perfect time for a yearly milestone and family session combo.

This year’s session is extra special because sweet little Emma just turned one! I joined Jen, Jeff, Wyatt + Emma at Carroll Valley Park to commemorate this special time in their life. Even though the temperature was freezing cold, the whole family had the best attitude and biggest smiles.

I’ve watched Wyatt, now four, grow over the years from this precious little boy to an energetic caring little man and wonderful big brother to Emma. As with every milestone session, I had Jen bring along a couple of Wyatt’s favorite things so we could capture his interests at this fun age. His favorite toy by far was his CAT tractor. From the moment his mom pulled it out he told me all about it and was so proud to show it off.

 

From Jen: I think my favorite part right now is watching Wyatt and Emma build their relationship together. Wyatt has become a very inquisitive, animated, and insightful preschooler – with a great skill at building things and role-playing. Emma is a unique combination of compassion and spunk – and has learned so much from watching Wyatt. They have started to “hang out” and play together and the combination of Wyatt’s skills and Emma’s spunk is quite special! We are very proud of both of them – for their unique personalities. We talk all of the time how lucky we are that they are our children. At such a young age, Emma and Wyatt are already learning how to be confident in themselves and be compassionate towards others – and we love them so much for it!!

Since Emma just celebrated her first birthday, Jen brought the cutest outfit for her to wear with a turquoise tutu and “one” shirt. We even had a big pink cupcake for her to smash. But, just like at her party a couple weeks before, she had little interest in smashing the cake. Even so, we were able to get some cute pictures of her sticking her little finger right in the icing.

Jen + Jeff, thank you for braving the cold weather with me for your session. You all were amazing and these results were worth our chilly evening. I’ve loved watching your family grow over the years and can’t wait to see how Wyatt + Emma bond as they get older.
