downtown waynesboro brand session

After shooting Tamara & Company’s branding session and Shauna’s updated head shots a couple of weeks ago, I realized I really didn’t have any corporate identity shots for my own business!  Eeek! A colleague of mine, Robin, was visiting from California so since I was already photographing her family during this week, I decided to utilize her photography skills as well!

Mackenzie Blubaugh, a licensed cosmetologist in Waynesboro, did my makeup prior to the session. I was confident in her ability and it took the pressure off of doing it myself. She was super knowledgeable in the products she used and with her explanations. I knew her beautiful work would look great and stay put! When she completed my makeup, I was ready to take on the session!

Being a photographer, it can be hard to put yourself on the other side of the camera. However, Robin made me feel so comfortable that by the end I was having a blast. I found it especially difficult when it is just you being photographed and there isn’t anyone else to interact with.  With this fresh in my mind and will be able walk alongside my solo entrepreneur clients a little better .

For branding sessions, it’s important to carry your brand elements through every image. One of the easiest ways to do this is through the colors of your outfit. For my session, I brought along two outfits, both of which highlighted Expressions brand colors. Having images that match your color scheme provide a seamless transition between all of your marketing efforts from website to printed materials to social media.

The other way to highlight brand standards is through location. Since I shoot all my sessions on location, it was important to have my brand imaging reflect the areas I frequently shoot. The streetscape of downtown Waynesboro was the perfect to convey where I like to meet clients for our consultations. The buildings provided just the right amount of color, texture and architectural detail for these branded images.

Robin, thank you for spending the evening with me. I can’t thank you enough for giving me the little extra push I needed to have corporate identity shots for myself. Even though being in front of the camera was awkward at first, I had a great time with you and can’t wait to use these images everywhere!
